Trump Space Memo And 1,000 Launch Goal Give AST SpaceMobile (ASTS) A Powerful Lift

AST SpaceMobile (ASTS) is drawing renewed investor interest after a significant government policy shift threw its weight behind the commercial space sector.

President Donald Trump signed a memorandum aimed at dramatically expanding U.S. commercial space activity, setting a target of at least 1,000 commercial launches and reentries per year by 2030.

That figure represents a staggering leap from the 178 launches recorded last year, which was itself already 10 times the total number of launches completed in 2013, according to Reuters.

The memorandum directs federal agencies to open government land for new launch sites, accelerate permitting processes, and free up wireless spectrum to support the growing volume of launches.

It also instructs agencies to avoid competing with private companies unless safety or national security concerns specifically require government involvement.

For AST SpaceMobile, the policy shift arrives at a moment when its long-promised satellite network is beginning to translate into real commercial agreements and partnerships.

The company is building what it describes as the first global cellular broadband network in space designed to work with regular, unmodified mobile phones carried by everyday consumers.

That approach has attracted a substantial roster of partners, with AST SpaceMobile now counting more than 60 mobile network operator partners covering more than 3 billion subscribers worldwide.

Those partners include major carriers such as AT&T (T), Verizon (VZ), Vodafone (VODPF), Rakuten (RKUNF), and Bell Canada (BCE), giving the company broad geographic and commercial reach.

ASTS stock is valued at a market capitalization of more than $24 billion, having returned 400% over the last five years despite sitting roughly 55% below its all-time high.

That pullback from peak levels gives long-term investors an opportunity to buy into a company with a growing partner base at a meaningfully discounted price relative to recent highs.

The combination of expanding carrier partnerships, a maturing satellite deployment strategy, and a favorable regulatory environment out of Washington makes ASTS a stock that space-tech investors continue to watch closely.
