Quantum Computing Stocks Rally As IonQ (IONQ) Surges 4%, D-Wave (QBTS) And Rigetti (RGTI) Follow

Quantum computing stocks are extending their recent rebound Thursday as investors continue to process a series of technical developments reshaping the industry’s commercial outlook.

IonQ (NYSE: IONQ) stock is up 4% to $44.08, while D-Wave Quantum (NYSE: QBTS) is gaining 3% to $17.23 and Rigetti Computing (NASDAQ: RGTI) is adding 2% to $16.28.

The broader market is relatively steady, with the Defiance Quantum ETF (NYSE ARCA: QTUM) up 0.16% to $152.70 and the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE ARCA: SPY) up 0.07% to $768.36.

Today’s buying is concentrated more heavily in individual names rather than the broader quantum ETF, suggesting investors are making targeted bets on specific technology approaches.

IonQ has drawn particular attention after recent advances in quantum error correction, including a real-time decoder running on a standard CPU that the company says addresses a major bottleneck in fault-tolerant computing.

IonQ says the development allows errors to be corrected in real time without slowing execution, a meaningful step toward more reliable and commercially viable quantum systems.

The company also introduced its Superion 256 platform, which will be the first quantum processor deployed at NVIDIA’s (NASDAQ: NVDA) Accelerated Quantum Research Center.

At that facility, IonQ and NVIDIA plan to study applications including financial modeling, materials science, and drug discovery, expanding the potential commercial footprint of quantum technology.

IonQ expects first customer deliveries of the Superion 256 system in 2027, making it a longer-term catalyst rather than an immediate revenue contributor for the company.

For investors, the distinction between technical progress and commercial adoption remains critical, as sustained revenue growth and actual customer deployments will ultimately define IonQ’s business trajectory.

D-Wave Quantum’s approach differs from IonQ’s trapped-ion technology, giving investors exposure to a separate path toward commercial quantum applications as the sector continues to mature.

Rigetti’s superconducting-qubit architecture represents yet another distinct technology model, underscoring how investors are backing multiple competing approaches across the quantum computing landscape.

The sector remains highly sensitive to technical milestones and commercialization expectations, meaning near-term stock moves can be sharp in both directions as new developments emerge.

Investors should watch for signs of customer adoption, recurring revenue, and system deployments across IonQ, D-Wave Quantum, and Rigetti as key indicators of how technical progress translates into real business results.
