Bloom Energy (BE), Illumina (ILMN) And Everpure (P) Set To Join S&P 500 In Quarterly Index Shakeup

S&P Dow Jones Indices has announced its latest round of changes to the S&P 500, with three new companies set to enter the benchmark index effective September 21, 2026.

The additions will take effect prior to the open of trading on Monday, coinciding with the index’s scheduled quarterly rebalance.

Bloom Energy (NYSE: BE), Everpure (NYSE: P), and Illumina (NASDAQ: ILMN) will replace Molson Coors Beverage, Trade Desk, and Builders FirstSource, respectively.

The changes are designed to ensure each index remains more representative of its market capitalization range, according to S&P Dow Jones Indices.

Bloom Energy carries the largest market capitalization among the incoming companies, valued at $74 billion ahead of its inclusion.

The company supplies fuel-cell systems that provide on-site electricity for data centers and industrial facilities, giving investors another way to play the power demands created by artificial intelligence.

Everpure, which provides data-storage systems and software, is being promoted directly from the S&P MidCap 400, confirming its rise into the large-cap club.

Illumina, the gene-sequencing tools maker used widely across research laboratories and healthcare settings, rounds out the trio of additions.

All three incoming stocks have gained at least 40% in 2026, meaning the index is adding companies that already carry significant market momentum into the benchmark.

Markets responded positively to the announcement, with Bloom Energy rising 5.63% in premarket trading, while Everpure gained 2.70% and Illumina added 1.04%.

The quarterly rebalance also brought changes to the S&P 100, where Dell Technologies, Palo Alto Networks, Arista Networks, and SanDisk will join the index.

Nike, Honeywell Aerospace, Simon Property Group, and Colgate-Palmolive are among the companies exiting the S&P 100 as part of the same reshuffle.

The broader set of changes reinforces two powerful themes driving markets in 2026, namely AI-related power and data infrastructure exposure through Bloom Energy and Everpure.

Illumina’s inclusion adds a recovering biotechnology name tied to long-term genetic-testing demand, broadening the thematic scope of the index reshuffle.
