D-Wave Quantum (QBTS) Opens Gate-Model Simulator Beta To Select Partners, Pushing Error-Aware Programming Forward

D-Wave Quantum Inc. (NASDAQ: QBTS) has launched a gate-model quantum computing simulator beta program, representing a significant milestone in the company’s gate-model development roadmap.

The company describes itself as the only dual-platform quantum computing firm offering both annealing and gate-model systems, software, and services to commercial and government customers.

The beta program gives select customers early access to the simulator ahead of its general availability, allowing participants to experiment with error-aware programming techniques before D-Wave’s forthcoming gate-model systems arrive.

Developers and researchers can use the simulator to build and test quantum applications designed to take advantage of D-Wave’s next-generation hardware architecture as it scales.

The simulator is built around D-Wave’s dual-rail superconducting gate-model technology, which is engineered to harness error detection for efficient quantum error correction with significantly lower hardware overhead.

That lower overhead is considered a key advantage as quantum systems grow in scale and the demands on error correction become increasingly complex and resource-intensive.

Participants in the beta program span both commercial and research sectors, and include BBVA, FirstQFM, Florida Atlantic University, and the Julich Supercomputing Centre.

The inclusion of a major financial institution alongside university and supercomputing partners signals broad interest in developing practical quantum applications across multiple industries.

D-Wave positions itself as the world’s first commercial supplier of quantum computers, and the first to offer dual-platform quantum computing products spanning both primary quantum computing technologies.

The company serves more than 100 organizations across commercial, government, and research sectors through on-premises systems and its Leap quantum cloud service, which the company says offers 99.9% availability and uptime.

The Leap platform gives enterprises flexible access to quantum resources without requiring on-site hardware, lowering the barrier for organizations exploring quantum computing for complex computational challenges.

The gate-model simulator beta launch advances D-Wave’s strategy of expanding its platform capabilities while preparing customers to transition smoothly to its next generation of gate-model quantum hardware.
