Kelly Clarkson, the Grammy-winning artist and former American Idol champion, has quietly assembled one of the most impressive celebrity real estate portfolios in the country.
The Fort Worth, Texas native rose to fame after winning the first season of American Idol, launching a career that has generated an estimated net worth of $50 million.
A significant portion of that wealth is tied directly to real estate holdings spread across multiple states, including Tennessee, California, Montana, and Texas.
Clarkson’s Tennessee chapter began in 2012, when she purchased a sprawling waterfront mansion in Hendersonville for $2.86 million, complete with English-style gardens, a greenhouse, and a private dock.
The property also featured a sand volleyball court and a covered two-boat boathouse, making it one of the more distinctive celebrity homes in the Nashville region.
The couple listed the Hendersonville estate for $8.75 million in 2017, and it ultimately sold for $6.3 million in June 2020, still a notable return on the original investment.
Clarkson also purchased a home in Gallatin, Tennessee in March 2013 for $350,000, selling it in November 2015 for $379,900, and expanded her Tennessee holdings further with a 275.45-acre farm in Lebanon for $1.96 million in April 2014.
That Lebanon farm, located roughly 30 minutes outside Nashville, sold in July 2020 for $3 million, adding another solid gain to her growing real estate track record.
In California, Clarkson and her then-husband Brandon Blackstock purchased a palatial custom-built farmhouse in Encino for $8.5 million in 2018, featuring eight bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, a private pool, and a separate two-bedroom guesthouse.
Following their split, the family listed the Encino estate for $9.9 million, though it eventually sold for $8.2 million in September 2021, falling slightly short of the asking price.
Clarkson then purchased a five-bedroom house in Toluca Lake for $5.4 million, a 5,000 square foot property featuring an outdoor pool, a tennis court, and an outdoor guesthouse, where she lived with her children.
That Toluca Lake property appears to be held as an investment, with it remaining unclear whether Clarkson has returned to the home or placed it on the rental market.
Her Montana ranch became the subject of significant legal attention during her divorce proceedings, when Brandon Blackstock contended the property belonged to them jointly.
A judge ultimately ruled the Montana ranch belonged solely to Clarkson, though she agreed to award Blackstock 5 percent of its value, equaling $908,800 of its total $17,750,000 valuation.
Back in her home state of Texas, Clarkson owns a Mansfield property sitting on 14 acres, a four-bedroom, six-bathroom home built in 1993 with 6,880 square feet of living space and a man-made pond, pools, a treehouse, dog runs, and walking trails.
