Nasdaq (COMP) Surges To Fresh Highs As Dow (DJI) Slides And Small Caps Search For Footing

Wall Street ended the week deeply divided, with technology-heavy indexes pushing higher while blue-chip and small-cap benchmarks struggled to maintain momentum.

The Nasdaq Composite closed at 27,190.86, gaining 1.19% on the day and extending its year-to-date advance to an impressive 16.99% for 2026.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average slid to 51,176.96, posting a weekly loss of 1.26% after touching a high of 51,780.50 and a low of 50,546.54 during the week.

The Dow’s RSI14 reading of 39.4 signals the blue-chip index is pushing toward oversold territory, even as it holds a 6.48% year-to-date gain.

The S&P 500 added 0.73% on the day to close at 7,722.72, sitting between its 10-day SMA support of 7,707.82 and resistance at 7,771.48.

The Russell 2000 inched up 0.94% to 2,832.90 but remains down for the week, with an RSI14 of 39.6 that mirrors the Dow’s hesitancy.

Gold rose 0.64% to $4,189.10 an ounce, silver jumped 3.76% to $62.24, while WTI crude slipped 0.58% to $90.58 a barrel.

The 10-year Treasury yield climbed 4 basis points on the day to 5.28%, representing a 10 basis point rise for the week, adding pressure to rate-sensitive sectors.

Raytheon, an RTX (NYSE: RTX) business, secured a five-year contract valued up to $24.4 billion for Standard Missile-6 interceptors, capable of both offensive and missile defense missions for the U.S. Navy.

“SM-6’s multi-mission capability is vital to our customer, and Raytheon is intensely focused on meeting the demand,” said Raytheon President Phil Jasper.
