Quantum Computing Inc. (QUBT), also known as QCi, continues to hold a well-capitalized balance sheet despite aggressive acquisition activity in the first half of 2026.
The company closed the second quarter of 2026 with total assets of approximately $1.64 billion, essentially unchanged from the first quarter of the year.
That stability signals that QCi’s overall financial position remained intact even as the company executed multiple strategic deals during the period.
Cash, cash equivalents, and investments totaled approximately $1.3 billion, down from $1.4 billion as of March 31, 2026, reflecting capital deployed toward expansion rather than any fundamental liquidity deterioration.
During the first half of 2026, QCi completed acquisitions of Luminar Semiconductor, Inc., NuCrypt, and NHanced Semiconductors, Inc., deploying approximately $180 million in cash including transaction-related expenses.
Total liabilities rose to approximately $47.2 million from $23.4 million at the end of the first quarter, though they remain substantially below the company’s cash position.
Stockholders’ equity held at approximately $1.6 billion, underscoring the strength of QCi’s capitalization following its recent financing and investment activities.
On the valuation front, QUBT currently trades at a forward 12-month price-to-sales ratio of 70.21X, compared with the industry median of just 4.10X, suggesting investors are pricing in significant long-term growth expectations.
Over the past year, QCi’s shares have fallen 44.3%, a steeper decline than the broader industry’s 15% drop during the same period.
The loss per share estimate for 2026 has also moved lower over the past 30 days, adding a note of caution to the near-term outlook.
Among peers, Rigetti Computing (RGTI) exited the first quarter of 2026 with cash, cash equivalents, and short-term available-for-sale investments of $418.2 million, down from $443.5 million at the end of the fourth quarter of 2025.
Rigetti carried no debt on its balance sheet at the close of the quarter, providing what analysts view as a solid solvency cushion in a capital-intensive research environment.
D-Wave Quantum (QBTS) reported cash and cash equivalents of $338.2 million alongside marketable investment securities of $250.2 million for the first quarter of 2026.
D-Wave’s investing cash outflow included $250.8 million in cash consideration for its Quantum Circuits acquisition, while operating cash outflow reached $45 million during the same period.
QUBT currently carries a Zacks Rank of 3, designated as Hold, reflecting the balance between the company’s strong capital position and its elevated valuation relative to peers.
