Law enforcement stopped a trespasser on the Malibu property of former Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff late at night.
A spokesperson for Harris, Eduardo Negrón, confirmed the incident in a statement to The Hill, saying security acted before any threat reached the residence.
“Last night, security personnel stopped an individual who illegally entered Vice President Harris and Second Gentleman Emhoff’s property before the individual reached the home,” Negrón said.
Negrón confirmed that neither Harris nor Emhoff were present at the property when the trespasser was intercepted by security personnel.
“They are grateful to the security and law enforcement personnel who responded swiftly,” Negrón said in a follow-up statement to The Hill.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that at approximately 10:30 P.M., deputies responded to a suspicious person call for service at the location.
Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the private security detail already on the property, and a trespassing report was formally taken at the time.
The individual found outside the property “was warned and advised by deputies to leave the premises and left voluntarily without incident,” according to the Sheriff’s Department.
No arrests were made in connection with the incident, and the situation was resolved without any further escalation or confrontation.
The Sheriff’s Department said that Malibu Lost Hills Deputies will increase patrols in the surrounding area as a precautionary measure going forward.
This incident follows President Trump’s decision to revoke Harris’ Secret Service protection, which had been extended through a directive signed by former President Biden before leaving office.
Harris had received six months of Secret Service protection after the Biden administration ended, with that coverage supposed to be extended for another full year.
California Highway Patrol offered to provide protection to Harris following the revocation, though officials declined to share specific details about any arrangement at the time.
Harris and Emhoff purchased their Malibu home within the past year, with the property reportedly valued at more than $8 million.
This is not the first time the former vice president and her husband have had to contend with unwanted visitors approaching their homes.
